If we carry out interviews with patients who had diagnosed for IBS, we shall find that sixty percent of the patients with IBS will be under the measure for psychiatric problems as per Edward Blanchard, the psychology professor at New York State University at Albany.

The general mental disease that occurs to IBS patients is the GAD, an anxiety disorder as per Blanchard. He fears that more than sixty percent of IBS infected people who have psychiatric diseases definitely will contain GAD. Another twenty percent of the people suffer from depression and some of them have similar disorders.

IBS and Anxiety

No matter they have IBS, patients who have anxiety usually worry much about their money, health, career according to the Association for Anxiety Disorders in America. Other symptoms that are associated with it include upset of stomach, muscle ache, dizziness, insomnia, irritability and trembling.
There are various theories that related the co-existence of stress, anxiety and IBS.

  • Though the mental problems like anxiety are not the reason behind IBS, people who have IBS will be very sensitive to psychological problems.
  • Anxiety and stress can make the mind sensitive to colon spasms.
  • IBS could be caused by immunity system, which is infected by stress.

anxiety-and-stressThere is some evidence that management of stress could help in avoiding symptoms of IBS. Some patients use the relaxation methods like visualization and deep breathing, for reducing stress. People who have IBS must start using primary care doctors and work with them. They must go to psychological care only when this step does not work properly.

Considering Support and Therapy treatment for IBS

As per blanchard’s report 2/3 of the people who suffer from IBS usually get better with modification in their usual diet pattern as well as medication. The remaining 1/3 who have serious symptoms must seek psychological support. Without such support, they are not able to get out of their problems.

Behavioral therapy is found to be a good cure for certain IBS symptoms and many of the people try it. This term is used for conveying idea about various therapies which include cognitive therapy, relaxation therapy, traditional psychotherapies, hypnotherapies’ and lot more. They can help in reducing IBS symptoms for patients with tough symptoms.

Discerning the Caregiver Burnouts

Caregiver burn outs are states of emotional, mental and physical exhaustions which can be followed by attitude variation – from caring and positive attitude to unconcerned and negative attitudes. Burnouts can happen while caregivers do not get help required by them or if they try doing more than their capacity, either commercially or physically.

Caregivers who are blown out could feel stress, fatigue, depression and anxiety. Many of the caregiver also experience guilt when they ass time alone rather than spending time with elderly beloved people or ill people.

Symptoms Regarding Caregiver Burnouts

The evidences for caregiver burnouts are exactly similar to depression and stress symptoms. It includes the below symptoms,

  • Detachment from family members and friends.
  • Deprivation of Interest and Enthusiasm in activities enjoyed previously.
  • Feeling irritated, helpless and hopeless.
  • Changes in weight and appetite.
  • Changes in patterns of sleeping.
  • Getting ill frequently.
  • Feeling to hurt others and themselves.
  • Exhaustion both physically and emotionally.
  • Pettishness.

Reasons for Caregiver Burnout

caregiverCare providers are frequently very busy caring for other people which makes them neglect the spiritual, mental and physical health of themselves. The requirements for their mind, emotions and body could be overpowering which can cause hopelessness and fatigue. This causes them to burnout completely. Some other factors are,

Role Mix-Up – Many individuals are not clear when to drive into caregiver role. It could be hard for an individual to realize them as a friend, child, and lover and also as a caregiver parallel.

Impossible Anticipations

Most of the caregivers await their participation to have a good effect on the patients’ happiness and health. This could be impossible for certain patients who might suffer from progressive diseases like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.

  • No control – Most of the caregivers do not have control on them and get frustrated due to resources, skills and lack of enough money to manage and plan for caring their beloved ones.
  • Excessive Needs – Certain caregivers put excessive responsibilities on themselves and find it hard to satisfy all of them.
  • Some other factors cause them not to recognize that they are having burnout and they come to a situation when they are not able to operate effectively, which can make them get sick.

There are some important techniques which can help in avoiding caregiver burnouts,

  1. Finding a reliable person like a colleague, neighbor or friend who can be trusted in order to express their frustrations and feelings.
  2. Also setting goals which are realistic, so that they can be achieved and also get help from people in regard to care giving.
  3. Being realistic with the disease of the beloved ones and in case of progressive diseases trying to control ourselves on our feeling and emotions.
  4. Though care giving is important, they should first take care of themselves and their health. They should be emotionally, physically and psychologically fit for care giving. So, they must eat healthy food, have some time for relaxation and do their job well.

Stacy porter suffers from incessant headaches and crippling migraines. This was the scene before the 29 year old lady underwent a surgery that transformed her life.

An Ohio marketing professional candidly confesses that he has been suffering from migraines since he was two years old. He suffers for almost fifteen days every month with relentless migraines. The pain has an adverse effect on the health of the person.

Symptoms of this dreary disease include excruciating pain in the temples, nausea and some patients are sensitive to light and they need to wear sunglasses to avoid the bright light which may result in a migraine attack.

Till date it is very unfortunate but true that none of the medicines have been effectively cured the nasty headaches and crippling migraines. The pain is eased but is not really cured by the doses. All this underwent a transformation when she underwent a surgery at the age of 21 years. Stacy confirms the fact that she has never had an attack of awful migraine.

Surgery – Is It Safe?

The renowned plastic surgeon Bahman Guyuron, MD, of Case Western Reserve University states that Stacy’s is one of the many that resort to surgery to get rid of migraines that can cripple a person with dreadful pain. His recent analysis throws light on the same.

Forehead Lift Surgery

Guyuron has successfully treated 400 migraine patients by the easy forehead lift surgery hat is now regarded as the latest and the best way to cure migraines. This surgery works wonders where medicines fail to prove results. Patients have never complained of suffering from a migraine after the surgery. However the critics are still breathing in anticipation and are not very convinced about the method of treating migraine by plastic surgery.

The study conducted by Guyuron

headacheHe and his team aimlessly allocated 75 patients with migraine prompting sites and to undergo a virtual or a real surgery. The patients were unaware about the kind of surgery they would undergo.

During a real surgery the nerves at the forehead were cut specifically and like Stacy’s case the nerve that was eliminated happened to be the one that had crow’s feet. As for others the nerve was cut to eliminate the unwanted frown lines from the forehead.

This wonder surgery works spontaneously and shows effective results like botox injections that are used largely for treating migraines. Actually the patients that underwent actual surgery underwent botox injections that ensured if they were ready for surgery or not.

Analysis

All in all 49 patients underwent an actual surgery and 26 of them had the deceiving surgery.

After one year 83% of the people that had undergone a real surgery clearly reported a reduction of 50% in the attack of migraine and the deceptive surgery group still had only 57% of people that did not complain It is very astonishing to note that 57% of the patients confessing that there were zilch attacks of disturbing migraines and the deceiving group stated that only four per cent patients reported the same. This report is available on Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal.

It should be clearly mentioned that surgery may or may not suit everyone. But it is a great way of saying goodbye to nasty migraines and it is a great cure for treating migraines where medicines have failed to display effective results.
