According to recent Study, it has been observed that the patients who take Benlysta drug have got less Lupus outbursts. Among a brand new class of observational medicines which focuses on the disease procedure necessitated in Lupus crush normal treatment in a huge clinical test, researchers have observed that Benlysta has great cure for reducing lupus severity.

If the research findings are proved, then Benlysta would be 1st new cure for the lupus disease in 5 decades. Around one and a half million Americans are suffering from lupus which is a complex malady affecting the immunity system of an individual. It damages the tissues of the individual, causing mayhem in skin, joints and many important organs. Benlysta has been found to reduce the unnatural immunity signals there by making it calm and healthy.

The new research was done with eight hundred and sixty five patients on normal therapy which included steroids for testing lupus. Among the tested people, 1/3 of the people were given high dosage of Benlysta drug and 1/3 of the people were given low dosage of Benlysta and another 1/3 of the people were given a placebo.

Results of the Research

The chief of rheumatology, Sandra V. Navarra, MD at the Santo Tomas University in Manila located in Philippines stated the results of the research in the seventy third Annual Scientific meet held at the American College of Rheumatology.

lupusAfter 1 year, 58 percent of the patients who were given high dosage of Benlysta has a notable betterment in the severity of Lupus symptoms when compared with the 43 percent of the people who were on placebo. Patients who took Benlysta also suffered few disease outbursts, and some of the cases had severe outbursts as well as long duration between the outbursts. They also stated less fatigue and an improvement in the quality of their life. Earlier, the findings from the research proved that the drug was more effective at lowering the hair loss, pain and the skin rash when compared to the placebo injected people.

The doctors state that, many patients who take Benlysta were able to decrease the dosage of their steroids. One of the most crucial goals for the treatment was to free them from the usage of the steroids, since they can cause many side effects which are troublesome, like gain in weight, acne, bloating, very high blood pressure and some others, as per Joan T. Merill, MD the director of America’s Lupus Foundation.

Negative Effects of Benlysta

The generic negative effects that were observed include muscle pain, influenza, headache, infection is the upper regions of respiratory tract, infections in the urinary tracts, and were corresponding to the 3 groups of treatment. The severe infections were observed in among 6 percent of the patients in all the 3 groups.

The Benlysta drug manufacturers, GlaxoSmithKline and Human Genome Sciences Inc., funded the research. There is another large research conducted by using Benlysta drugs against the standard treatment and the results are planned to be published during the next month. If the Benlysta drug is found to be effective in that research also, the manufacturers are planning to apply for the approval from FDA for Benlysta.

What Is Allergies?

Allergies are no doubt, annoying but these can’t be considered as diseases for sure. These could be best described as the exaggeration of body’s immune system. If the allergies are taken lightly and left untreated these could take a very deadly form – affecting the body very severely.

There are various kinds of allergies and these would have different symptoms depending upon the cause, where the allergies is appearing on the body surface, how long it stays, etc. It is almost next to impossible to treat an allergy unless you know what triggered it and what the symptoms are. As discussed that looking at the symptoms one would know which allergy is bothering the person, some times it is more difficult than the sound of it. Hence, there are three general rules around allergies, the same are –

1) Whenever we are thinking that allergy might be the possible reason of the problem that the patient is confronting, we should see if the immune system is involved, for the problem to be related to allergies.

2) Look for the reactions. The body would reciprocate if not immediately, a day or two after.

3) Try to prevent yourself from the know allergies that you have.

Symptoms Of Allergies

symptom-allergiesSymptoms of allergies would be dependent upon the kind of allergy that one has. In fact, the symptoms would indicate the cause of the allergy. The most common allergies would be Food Allergies; Anaphylaxis; Respiratory Allergies; Contact Allergies and Insect Sting Allergies. The symptoms of allergies caused by the once mentioned above would be different from one another. We cannot really list some common symptoms of allergies for that matter. The symptoms of allergies are quite a relative issue, which can only be elaborated when a specific allergy is in question.

The allergies are basically the immune system of the body reacting over sensitively to some substance. The over reaction could be understood as allergic reaction and the substance causing it is called the allergens. As there are different kinds of allergies the allergens causing the same would be different as well. Let’s say for example the Insect Sting allergies would have the insect as the allergens.

Causes Of Allergies

The cause of allergies is when we fall prey to the outside invaders – the allergens. Our immune system is like a defense mechanism, which is always working to ensure that the organs and all the cells in our body function perfectly well. No doubt that the immune mechanism works at its best but then it definitely is not the perfect one against all the allergens waiting to invade your body and hence we get allergies.

On the other hand at times out body immune system overreacts to an out side substance and treats it as allergens when it actually is harmful like the pollen. The result of which is our body start to show the symptoms of allergies.

Clearly the best way to ensure that the symptoms of allergies don’t bother you is by being away from the things that you know you are allergenic too. That is why it is said, “Prevention is better than Cure”.
