Treatment with Cetrotide, a Fertility Drug. Women who suffer from dangerous hot flashes before menopause can get relived by using fertility drugs like Cetrotide as per a new study. The 3 women who were involved in the research suffered from frequent hot flashes, as per the report of Hans de Boer, Rinjstate Hospital in Arnhein from Netherlands.

One women developed some symptoms after absconding hormone therapy. Another woman had breast cancer and underwent some treatment using estrogen blocking drugs. The 3rd woman was suffering from endometrial cancer and during treatment her ovaries were taken.

All of them responded well to treatment as per Boer. The women who suffered from breast cancer had many hot flashes and now she has only 2 everyday and has changed completely. She could not liver her life earlier but now she is very joyful and satisfied.

The fertility drug used for treatment of these women is Cetrotid which helps in controlling hormones that tell ovaries for releasing eggs. There are receptors for these hormones in brain cells which control the thermostat of the body. Centrotide can be given daily either through injections or self-administered through drugs. Two women gradually needed daily dose of the drug.

Price of Centrotide

The drug is not cheap and a single dose can cost around 124 USD and the price can vary from one pharmacy to another. But after clinical trials, if the drug is found to be effective for hot flashes and is safe, then the demand can cause reduction of price.

And clinical trials are required. De boer is rapid in noting that though this study is enough, larger studies can tell us the overall reaction from different women and usage of Cetrotide for hot flashes treatment can be understood. As far as now, the treatment seems safe.

I have not found side effects with this treatment so far, but it can reduce the estrogen levels with premenopausal women and this can reduce their bone mass. But I don’t see any effect since the estrogen levels are already low in the women before pre menopause and for women who are treated for the breast cancer it could be beneficial. Though he has no interest financially in Centrotide, he has been talking with the manufacturer of drugs for placebo administered clinical tests.

Reason Behind Hotflash

Although every women who undergoes such menopause can suffer from hot flash some women who force into menopause by taking breast cancer treatment, can suffer from frequent hot flashes which can be painful. Hormone therapy can help in treatment for some women, but it cannot be helpful for women who have severe symptoms and hormone therapy is not recommened by doctors usually as there are safety concerns involved with it.

There is no clear reason behind occurrence of hot flashes but LIRH is a hormone that could be associated with hit. It can trigger the brain cells which control and regulate the body temperature and causing some reactions to make it hot. Centrotide can block these hormones.
