It takes patience, resolve and courage to obtain the H1N1 swine flu vaccine. The group of people that are easily susceptible to catch this painful disease are pregnant women, care takers of children that are less than six months old, people working at hospitals, any individual between six months to twenty four years and people above twenty years that suffer from acute medical status.

The State and neighboring health departments have the right to confine the criteria for eligibility if adequate supplies are not there. Until now approximately 154 million US residents have been categorized in the above mentioned groups. 38 million medical doses are there with the states and only ten million drug doses are reaching the states every week.

You have to work hard and be lucky to receive the H1N1 vaccine as the odds are high. A poll by Harvard insists that 41% of the parents have tried to attain the valuable vaccine for their children and two thirds of them have filed to do so. Around 29% of the parents felt exasperated and a whopping 91% did not even try to attain it again.

Angie’s Story

Seven months pregnant Angie Kiblinger successfully attained H1N1 vaccine for herself and her one-and a half year old daughter named Hazel. She was a part of the WIC local program that successfully reaches out to people that need nutrition and medical help.

On the D-day she went to the clinic to attain the shots of the medicine and waited patiently in the long queue. When her chance finally came she was turned down by the authorities because the clinic had had the breathing version of drug which is clearly a no for pregnant ladies and children below tha age of two years.
Angie researched the internet and found out the clinics that were offering H1N1 vaccines. All the local schools were having the vaccination program but the process was being delayed due to lack of supplies. She finally got the information that she would have to travel two town further to obtain the same between on ten am and one pm on Saturdays.

Hence on Saturday drove and reached the accurate destination and they reached to find a never ending queue. The clinic had only 700 medical doses out of which 400 were spray vaccines while the remaining were to be injected to the patients. After endless hours of waiting some people behind Angie were sent home and there were clouds of uncertainty looming in Angie’s mind regarding her luck.

Finally when Angie and her family’s chance came she and her daughter was lucky enough to attain the shots so that there were shielded against the swine flu epidemic that had taken a toll on the lives of people in USA. She would have to attain another dose in a span of four weeks.
